“Sleeping is nice because youre not actually dead and youre not awake so its a win-win situation.”
I know that I will experience pain. Everyone does. We are all human. Humans experience pain.
“ I could respond with fear and worry, resulting in an agitated mind,
or I could calmly remind myself that until I had other facts to go on,
everything else was just my imagination.”
“The hallmark of depression and anxiety is catastrophizing– worrying about something that hasn’t happened yet and might not happen at all worried by its very nature means thinking about the future if you place yourself into awareness of the present moment worrying melts away”
“Many problems we face in our lives are products of our thinking. While our lives are always taking place right here in this current moment, our thinking is always drawn to rethinking what has already happened and looking ahead to what might happen. This worry creates fears and insecurities, and keeps us from being fully right where we are.”
“You are precious. Many people struggle with low self-esteem that interferes with their ability to hold onto a positive image of their body. You may think ‘I’m too short’ or I’ have ugly skin’ or ‘I’m flabby and nonathletic.’ Such negative thoughts deplete your sense of self-worth. You are not the sum total of those destructive thoughts. Your self-worth cannot be measured or based on the negative stories you tell about yourself. All human beings have some goodness or value that cannot be taken away or measured. Remind yourself that your value doesn’t depend on your body size or other looks. We are all born flawed perfection does not exist. You are a rare and cherished gift of creation. we were never meant to compare ourselves to others. You’re worthy worthwhile and precious.”
“We all find ourselves asking these fundamental questions (Who am I, what do I want? What is my purpose in life?) at some or many points along our evolutionary journey. We may be searching for answers that will help us move from anxiety to peace, from confusion to clarity, and from emotional pain to happiness. As the world’s great wisdom traditions tell us, the answers are always within. By going inside and connecting to the deepest level of our being, the clamor of competing outside messages begins to fade and inner awareness dawns.”
“The Indian mystic known as Osho teaches that an anxious person feels separate from the world, with everyone conspiring against them. Trees and birds don’t spend their days worrying; worry isn’t helpful to them. Its also not helpful to us. Anxiety goes away with understanding. When we understand that existence takes care of all of us, we know that we are not only part of existence, we are essential to it. We see that the world is abundant. This is when life becomes a celebration and feelings of anxiety are recognized as foolish.”
“Whether you want to change a negative behavior (like overeating or snapping at your kids) or commit to a positive one (like meditating every day), the best approach is to cultivate self-compassion and tap into its power, so that you can stick to your resolutions —and build a better life.”
“Self-compassion dramatically improves your chances of making a change for good.”
“You and I are essentially infinite choice makers.
In every moment of our existence. We are in that field
of all possibilities where we have access to an infinity of choices.”
“Life unfolds in the present but so often we let the present Slip away allowing time to rush past unobserved and unseized and squandering the precious seconds of our lives as we worry about the future and ruminate about what’s past.”
Try your hardest to accept all your emotions as they rise.
Don’t avoid them.
Don’t run away from them.
Acknowledge that you are feeling those emotions.
Remind yourself that it is normal to feel those things.
Then, move your attention to something else.
What works for me:
I name 1 (or more) things that I am grateful for.
“Anger gets in the way of your ability to take
care of your body and quickly takes over your capacity for joy.”
Sometimes things just will not go my way! And that is okay. Life is not perfect!!
I am a human which means when I feel pain,
anger, happiness and all other emotions I am just having a
human experience and living a human life.
Forgive with a smile.
Dwelling on past affronts or being consumed
by vengeful thoughts takes a toll on physical and emotional health.
I know I (and everyone) worry about our future a lot.
Like what we wanna do with our lives, do we want to have children etc.
But honestly, you don’t need to.
Just be here now—focus on the moment
and doing the best you can in this moment!
You are allowed to have really good days
for no real reason and really bad ones for no real reason.
You are allowed to feel like shit and ten minutes later,
think everything in the world is perfect.
You don’t need a reason to feel,
emotions are a great part of the human experience, don’t deny them.
I know from my core who I am and what I need to do.
